United States Catholic Catechism for Adults Course Now Open

In his letter at the beginning of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Pope John Paul II explained that the new Catechism was meant to “encourage and assist in the writing of new local catechisms, which take into account various situations and cultures, while carefully preserving the unity of faith and fidelity to catholic doctrine.”

As a response to the pope’s vision, the US Bishops published the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults. This catechism follows the structure of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which is arranged in four parts, “The Profession of Faith”, “The Celebration of the Christian Mystery”, “Life in Christ”, and “Christian Prayer” while incorporating the unique history of the Catholic Church in the US and contemporary issues that modern American Catholics face. It is a useful study for any US Catholic who feels a call to deepen their faith, specifically to understand how to authentically live the Catholic faith in the contemporary United States. It would also be beneficial to newly confirmed teenagers or serve as a helpful and enjoyable text for OCIA.

To aid and promote the study of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, we have created a new online course that leads students through the catechism while providing discussion questions, forums, quizzes, and progress tracking. Enrollment is now open and is included with all student and family plan subscriptions.
