Seven Levels of Classical Catholic Education

The Classical Liberal Arts Academy is working to restore classical Catholic intellectual culture in the 21st century. This is no easy project, and it will take a generation to achieve.

There are seven levels through which students will ascend in coming years:

1. Awareness of Classical Catholic Studies

At this level, parents and students learn about the Classical Liberal Arts Academy and the classical Catholic curriculum.

2. Reading Familiarity with Classical Catholic Studies

Enrolled students begin reading Academy lessons in the classical Catholic curriculum.

3. Completion of Written Summaries of Classical Catholic Studies

Students begin submitting written reading summaries, demonstrating their developing knowledge of the content of Academy lessons.

4. Completion of Objective Examinations in Classical Catholic Studies

After completing written summaries, students demonstrate their mastery of lesson content through the completion of objective examinations, for which 90% scores are required for promotion.

5. Application of Classical Catholic Studies across Curriculum

As students demonstrate mastery of lesson content, we wait to see them apply their growing knowledge across courses. This is assessed through written assignments which reveal the growing light gained from classical Catholic studies, which enlightens other subjects.

6. Application of Classical Catholic Studies to Currrent Problems

As student mastery of classical studies extends across subjects, it will begin to extend beyond the curriculum to the problems, questions and tasks of daily life.

7. Application of Classical Catholic Studies to Contemplative Life

At last, the student will begin to apply the wisdom of classical Catholic studies to the highest pursuit in life, namely, divine contemplation.
