Don’t Make CLAA Studies Difficult

Dear parents,

Many homeschool programs place the full burden of teaching on parents. They send books and “lesson plans,” and parents are left to do the work of teachers—preparing and delivering lessons, grading assignments, and keeping academic records. In some cases, they even ask parents to pay extra for grading services. This is not only costly, but also stressful, and the success of the program ends up depending entirely on the parent’s time, skill, and energy.

The Classical Liberal Arts Academy works differently. We have already done the work that teachers need to do. Our courses are fully developed and broken down into lessons, and those lessons are divided into simple tasks. Your responsibility is not to create lessons or plan activities, but to help your children complete the tasks assigned—lesson studies, quizzes, and written assignments. All grading is done for you, and all records are kept automatically.

Because many parents come to the CLAA from other programs, it is common for them to assume they must continue “homeschooling” as they have before—buying extra books, creating lesson plans, or preparing activities. This is unnecessary in the CLAA and only adds to your workload. The program is designed so that you do not have to do any of that. Your role is simply to ensure that your children work through the assigned tasks one at a time.

When you follow this approach, you will find that CLAA studies are not a heavy burden. The work of preparing lessons, teaching, grading, and keeping records is already complete. This allows you to focus your time and energy on guiding and supporting your children in their daily studies, without the extra pressure that other programs require.

Please DO NOT waste time and energy on the usual homeschooling nonsense.  Simply help your children complete tasks.

God bless,
Mr. William C. Michael, O.P.
