St. Albert the Great (1200-1280)
Albert was born around 1200 AD. As a youth, he was sent to pursue his studies at the University of Padua, a city famous for its culture of the liberal arts. In the year 1223 he joined the Order of St. Dominic, being attracted by the preaching of Blessed Jordan of Saxony second Master General of the Order. After completing his studies he taught theology at in a number of German cities.
