Elementary Tutoring with Mrs. Michael

Dear friends,

Most of the contacts we receive at the Academy are from parents with young children looking for help with basic skills.  Most homeschool parents imagine that teaching children to read, write and spell, and to get started in mathematics and catechism will all be easy--but they're not.  The value of skilled elementary teachers is often greatly underestimated and many parents learn the hard way that these early lessons are extremely important in getting off to a good start in education.

We have not been able to help with these needs because I obviously cannot afford to spend time teaching individual children to read.  I published "Petty School" lesson and some Reading lessons to help, but more is needed--and we want to help. Thankfully, we now can.

As my wife begins her life as a Lay Dominican this coming year, she is committing her time and energy to her work in elementary Catholic education.  Our own children are growing and we have the resources for her to be able to work with other students.

Beginning this summer, online tutoring with Mrs. Michael is now available for young children studying the all-important basic subjects:  Reading, Writing, Arithmetic and Religion.

Mrs. Michael studied Classics and Elementary Education at Rutgers University in New Jersey and went on to work as an elementary school teacher.  She then spent the last 22 years as a homeschooling mother, while working to provide support for homeschool families in the Classical Liberal Arts Academy.  Mrs. Michael is a faithful Catholic who attends Mass daily, prays the Rosary regularly and, as mentioned above, has been approved for admission to the Third Order of St. Dominic.  She offers Catholic homeschool families an excellent opportunity to receive affordable Catholic help that they can trust and enjoy.

Mrs. Michael will be offering online tutoring sessions for children who need to learn to read, spell, write, master their mathematics facts and learn the Catholic Bible and catechism.  Meetings will be conducted using Google Meet and can be scheduled for regular weekly meetings or as needed.

It is our desire to help Catholic students get off to the best possible start in their education and avoid the troubles that plague many Catholic homeschool students.  Parents need this help--and it's available.
