Dear friends,

As Catholics, our private devotional life is to be united with the liturgical life of the Church.  The liturgy of the Mass is the ultimate expression of that devotion, but the Church does not leaves us there.  The Church provides us with a system of liturgical prayer to order every part of our day, every day of the year.  This is known as the "Liturgy of the Hours"--the official liturgical prayer of the Catholic Church--the prayer recited daily by the Pope along with bishops, priests, monks, nuns and laymen throughout the world.  All Catholics are invited by the Church to join in praying the Liturgy of the Hours daily.

For years, the Classical Liberal Arts Academy has helped Catholics learn to pray the Liturgy of the Hours.  In fact, if you visit the Divine Office website, you'll see that we're listed among their "Good Resources".  We publish a weekly guide that leads Catholics through the daily prayers.  We publish resources that teach Catholics about the different parts of the Liturgy of the Hours and about the Liturgy itself.  All of these resources can be found on our Liturgy of the Hours resources page.

Today, I am happy to announce a new resource we are offering to help promote the Liturgy of the Hours.  In the CLAA Study Center, we have added a free free Liturgy of the Hours course.  This course allows students of all ages to track their progress in praying the offices of the Liturgy of the Hours.  This is intended to help students develop the habit of daily liturgical prayer and to provide some friendly motivation for doing so.  As in all of our courses, students earn points each time they may an activity complete and can see their own scores as well as those of other students in the Study Center.

Therefore, I invite adult students, parents and children to enroll in this new free course and use it to help develop the habit of reciting the Liturgy of the Hours daily.

God bless your families,
William C. Michael, Headmaster
