Recommended: St. Hildegard of Bingen’s “Medicine”

Wouldn’t it be great if a saint wrote a book on the art of medicine?

It sure would.

Wouldn’t it be even greater if such a book were written by a Doctor of the Church?

Well, this is exactly what we have in the medicinal writings of St. Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179). St. Hildegard was an amazing woman who not only had wisdom in natural philosophy, but was a famous composer of sacred music as well.

I recommend this English translation and commentary on St. Hildegard’s medicinal works.
