Lets discuss... The Lord of the Rings!

Hello everybody!!

So, since this is a discussion forum for us to discuss books on, and all we have really done is mention our favorite books, and quite a few people have mentioned this book (series), I would like to try starting a conversation by asking everybody who is their favorite character from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit? (the books and/or movies)

I will begin by saying that I liked Bilbo, Gandalf, Fili and Kili, and Dori (he really was a decent fellow) from The Hobbit.
In no particular order, my favorites from The Lord of the Rings would have to be Merry and Pippin (I feel like they have to be mentioned together ), Faramir, and Treebeard.

My favorite character would have to be Aragorn! Although, I've only watched them all the way through once, and just started watching them again, so I don't remember all the characters off the top of my head

I like Froddo, Pippin and Merry for the Lord of the Rings. I like Bilbo and Smaug for the Hobbit.

I think that this character is underrated, nobody as even mentioned him: Sam Gamgee, he gave up everything (not that he had much choice) to follow Frodo.

You are very right Joseph! People do often forget Samwise Gamgee! He is kind of like the Apostle John, in the way that John was the only one who followed Jesus through his passion. Sam did the same with Frodo. That is why (after Aragorn) Samwise is my favorite character

Out of curiosity, why is Smaug one of your favorite characters, Xavier?

I agree with Xavier! Smaug is the best character in The Hobbit! He's the coolest. He's the scariest. He's the most evil. He just plain awesome!

Even before I read the Hobbit Smaug was my favorite (don't ask why, I have a thing for dragons )

While I think all the characters are just plain awesome, I've always thought the elves like Legolas, Galadriel, and Elrond were really cool. Legolas's archery stunts are UNBELIEVABLE! I also just love how they portrayed the scenery of Rivendell and Lothlorien in the movies.
