Read the sentence below:
“Don’t fail to come.”
In the word “don’t”, we see a mark ( ’ ) between n and t. This mark is called an Apostrophe.
Sometimes, an apostrophe is used to show that one or more letters are omitted.
To define contraction, we will say:
A contraction is a shortened word, from which some letters have been omitted.
To dedine apostrophe, we will say:
An apostrophe is a sign used to mark the place where one or more letters have been omitted.
