Homeschool Family Gardening

By far, the best activity for homeschool families is gardening.  Any family with a backyard can start and maintain a garden and produce a significant amount of food–probably more than you think.  Our family has always gardened extensively and during these Summer months, my wife and the kids spend the mornings taking care of the gardens I worked to prepare in the Spring.  We eat out of the garden every day, allowing us to eat healthy food, get plenty of exercise and enjoy wholesome family culture.

If you’d like to learn about gardening and get some good advice, I’d like to recommend a source few know about.  In the late 1800s, most American families lived on farms and produced their own food.  The U.S. Department of Agriculture produced resources called “Farmer’s Bulletins” to help them do so, and these resources are invaluable for families.  Below, I have provided access to one such bulletin on gardening, which I invite you to check out.  I’ll be sharing more in the future.

If you have any questions about gardening, please ask. We’re happy to help!

God bless your families,
