Dear friends,
My love for history studies began in college, as a Classics major who specialized in Ancient History. I wanted to know the history of biblical times so that I could read and understand the Bible in its historical context.
In my work for the Classical Liberal Arts Academy, I published the popular World Chronology course back in 2009, but the work of restoring the entire curriculum, building the website and tools, and managing the real-world business side of the program have kept me from offering anything that I’d consider to be a good history program.
That’s going to change in 2021.
This year, I will be developing a comprehensive world history program that will allow students to study all of the content of the original editions of the Cambridge Ancient, Medieval and Modern histories. These are, by far, the best sources on world history and are free from much of the modern criticism that plagues modern history sources. In God’s providence, these are available to us online.
I will be publishing one lesson and an exam at whatever pace my work allows for me. I’m not making any promises because it’s going to take a long, long time and it’s just one thing on my agenda. But, if a student wants to begin working through such a program with me, he’s welcome to do so. History is for students who love to read, so non-readers need not apply. This will be the history program for students who want to master history.
There are 10 courses in all, which will consist of approximately 60 lessons per course.
- HUM 401 Ancient History
- HUM 402 Classical History I
- HUM 403 Classical History II
- HUM 404 Classical History III
- HUM 405 Medieval History I
- HUM 406 Medieval History II
- HUM 407 Medieval History II
- HUM 408 Modern History I
- HUM 409 Modern History II
- HUM 405 Modern History III
I will be starting Classical History I, Medieval History I and Modern History I as my first priorities. The more students are willing to work on the course, the more of a priority I’ll make it.
God bless,
Willliam C. Michael, Headmaster
