With talk in the news of recessions and food shortages, many parents are thinking about what they should do to avoid any troubles that are preventable. This talk, unfortunately, leads some to try to exploit groundless fears and recommend extreme measures that have no place in Catholic faith and morals. Urging families to learn to “live off the land” or start a “hobby farm” is reckless and needs to be ignored. Farming is a sustainable means of living, but it is a way of life that requires great self-control, forethought and skillful work. In this video, I discuss the goal of Catholic self-sufficiency, practiced by the saints throughout history, and how it differs from modern talk on the subject.
God bless your families,
Mr. William C. Michael
